Internet Insight Inside!...:

Basking against the glow of a miniature-monolith,
there he sits,
the whole wide world, spread out before him,
at the reach of his fingertips

Like so many other things before it,
it seemed like such a good idea at the time
To "share the wealth", as it were
in this rare case, wealth being equalized to information

Since the first caveman put a couple of rocks together
through the renaissance of the calculus
the increasing technological advancements
made possible, the communication between people
across great distances

But, in a typical fashion
it has been argued, that said distances
have only increased as well

True, it can easily seem that way
when everybody can just comment on everything
without consequences
and the fact that a lot of it is just used for
insignificant trivialities

But, as with many other things
the fact of the matter remains
that people DO have easier access to each other
and for better or worse, it´s here to stay
and is that really all that bad?...

Despite what all the great stories have said
this won´t, literally, take over our lives
unless you, figuratively, let it...
It just makes a lot of things easier

Staring out into the room surrounding the screen of his laptop,
he sighs, rubs his eyes,
unable to find further motivation, "enough internet for today",
he gets up, logs off the screen, turns off the modem
and goes to bed, looking forward to the next time,
he´ll be surfing those digital waves!...
